There are so many samples whose origin I have no idea, but want to know. For example, the tons of samples that make up almost the entire track known as "Premise" on Musipal. - Now the premise of this album is very very simple
- Imma' fuck the whole world up (repeated)
- and so many more.
So many sci-fi related samples from Big Soup. The whole conversation between a boy and his parents about the boy's dream. I would love to watch this show or movie. I'm guessing the part of "Premise" where the guy says "to find a passing spaceship, and get rescued by it" is from a radio broadcast of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, based on the dialogue. I've read the book. This is probably obvious to many.

re: the premise - i think i hear some samples from that robin williams movie "flubber" (i'll even tell you what two of the secret ingredients are...) and i think i also hear merlin from disney's "the sword in the stone" movie, but i'm not sure. the "i'ma fuck the whole world up..." sample sounds like the same poet madlib samples the hell out of on the quasimoto albums, but again, that's just a guess. i think you're right about the hitchhiker's guide though. good call.

The space "Big Soup" samples are from a couple places. One is from an album called "Bobby and Betty Go to the Moon" (which I own, and want to actually listen to sometime) -- I believe it's the whole "Greetings earth citizens" thing.
The samples of the kid talking to Mom and Dad are from a recording of an old 1960's musical called "Space is so Startling" -- a Google search will show you some stuff about it.

I spotted a couple of samples this weekend. Both the samples from the track Drum 'n' Bass for Papa, "Smoke a joint" and "Burn a little grass", come from an anti-narcotics propaghanda film from the late sixties called Mondo Mod. I saw an excerpt from the film, which included the snipets, in a documentary film called Grass which is about the federal government's campaign against marijuana throughout the 20th century.
